Since 1968, the American Heart Association has reduced cardiovascular disease mortality by 70% through research, programming and education. The AHA has invested $4 billion in research since 1949, second only to the national government. This has included 13 Nobel Prize winners and research breakthroughs in treatment and prevention, such as: CPR techniques, the first artificial heart valve, implantable pacemakers, cholesterol inhibitors, drug-coated stints and microsurgery. The need is still urgent as a heart attack or stroke occurs every 20 seconds.
Thank you for supporting the AHA!
