On April 27, 2004, my mother, Christi Hesson, was out walking our family dog Roxy. On her way back to her house, she suffered cardiac arrest. Mom was lucky that there were some neighbors nearby, who performed CPR until the Fire-EMS arrived and was able to restart her heart 10 minutes later. Roxy stood by her side this whole time.
Mom was induced into a coma and spent the next several days in ICU while her body was kept at a very low temperature to reduce brain damage. Her doctors implanted a defibrillator, which has since gone off twice over the last 15 years.
In honor of Mom’s miraculous recovery and the friends, family, Fire-EMS and medical staff that helped along the way, we are hosting a fundraiser for the American Heart Association on the 15th anniversary of the event.
Please join us from 1:00-3:30 PM on April 28th at the CE-Bar Fire Department. We will have live music, food, and beverages available. This is a family-friendly and dog-friendly event.
